Gail and I want to thank everyone for the kind words and offers of help. It means a lot to us and shows how close this community of boaters are. We want to wish each and everyone of you and yours a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. There is a lot to be thankful for no matter what and the tomorrows are always exciting. We are thankful you all have become part of our family.

CLEAN UP
Thursday, December 3, 2015
Good bye to the Barge
On 25th November Port Harvey suffered a major setback when our barge suffered a catastrophic damage causing it to sink. We are in the process of cleaning up the mess and trying to salvage whatever we can. Given the age of the barge (73 years) it was not able to be insured which while being a setback will not stop Gail and I from continuing on and making sure we have the Red Shoe functioning in the 2016 season. At the moment we are concentrating on the issues at hand and then will sit down and make a plan for the future which we will share with all our friends here. Gail and I feel that we have our health so this is only a set back that can be dealt with.
Our thanks to Len from Burial Cove for notifying us as we were in Alberta at the time and for his quick thinking which helped save some of the items in the Red Shoe. George is there now with Tom to help. We are going to salvage what we can and carry on. We will update here and on our Facebook Page with our progress.

Season's end
After a very very busy season, with over 1000 boats this year, The Red Shoe is closed until next year. Many many pizzas, fish and chips, burgers, ribs and salmon burgers were enjoyed by many of our friends. Of course can't forget the cinni buns, sausage rolls, bread, buns, breakfast croissants and many many more bakery items!
The Port Harvey Yacht Club acquired new members. Patrick Gill is the commodore for another year with the annual meeting being in July next year to allow more members to attend.
Not many posts happened on our blog this year as we were being spammed in the comments. To prevent this we did not post very much. Follow us on our facebook page.
We hope to see everyone again next year! Safe travels on your journeys.

WOW Another Busy Time
It has been busy in our little bay. Canada Day was a huge success with second-time winners of the Ho-Shoe Tournament being Paul and Jane from Pacesetter. They were the first annual winners as well. Our daughter Melissa with her daughters Signe and Quinn in tow made a lovely Canada Day cake. Fun time was had by all. The smallest Ho-Shoe competitor was our 5 year old grand-daughter Signe as she played with Tom our help for two weeks.
Charlie had to do his performance inside as it was too windy on the deck. Our 5 year old granddaughter was pooped as she danced to every one of his songs. Fireworks were spectacular as the wind calmed down just in time.

And so it begins!
George has been a very busy pirate these past few weeks. In this picture you cannot see the very long hair that he has now. The First Wagonner Flotilla came in yesterday and George was busy making 8 pizzas and cini buns for the morning. First of the season for Cini Buns! He had made a couple of pizzas a few days prior for eating on the boat.
The Red Shoe was opened for the flotilla. Pizzas only at the moment. George has hired a young gentleman to help him this season and he is bringing his own accommodation! I will hopefully be back in June sometime if our plans for our hardware store work out. We have a couple of people in mind to help run the store for the summer so I can go home. Yay! 8 months is too long to be away from home.
George has been busy fixing things up and I think you will be surprised when you come around the corner of Range Island.
Our 70 year old barge has been given a much needed face lift!

BUSY TIMES
It has been a very busy couple of months. George is now back at the Marina after spending almost 5 months in Alberta at our hardware store. I am still here as our manager is gone. I have been in Alberta since the end of September when I was babysitting Signe and Quinn for two months. What a joy it was! I am now running the hardware store until we find someone to manage it for us. Hopefully someone is available for the summer.
As George mentioned on our facebook page, Sharon is unable to help us this year so we are URGENTLY looking for help. If anyone knows of someone that wants a summer job, please email us at cambridge@xplornet.com.
The docks have been pressure washed and George is in the process of getting everything ready. Sabi is enjoying being home where she can run free. She had to be chained when outside in Alberta as she is not road savy and would explore too much.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone again (hopefully me as well). Safe boating!
